Russia To Build an Orbital Construction Plant
jamax writes "Russia plans to build an orbital plant for the production of spacecraft (link to sketchy Google translation of the Russian original) that are too big to build planetside, or are just too bulky to fire into orbit once built. Presumably these are the ships we would fly to the Moon and Mars. Plans seem to be rather sparse at the moment, with the tentative construction date set for 2020, after the ISS is scheduled for decommissioning."
The US space program has turned to crap as we have become more interested in affirmative action, getting along with Western European gov'ts that contribute little and yet suck the life out of everything we want to do.
This move by Russia is the logical step for anyone going anywhere in space. Screw microgravity experiments, men need to explore. Sadly, few western countries are run by actual men anyomore. Even if they have the anatomy, they have been peeing sitting down for so long they forgot what it was like to do something big.
