Firefox Goes for World Download Record

Kelson writes "For the upcoming release of Firefox, Mozilla is preparing Download Day 2008: a campaign to set a world record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours. Participants are asked to pledge to download Firefox 3 on the day that it's launched. The exact date hasn't been scheduled yet, but everything seems on track for June."

Excellent! Promote spreading a buggy, crash-prone, and memory leaking waste of hard drive space!

Oh wait, that's right- we have to deny there are any bugs until after they are fixed, and deny there are memor leaks until after they are fixed. Every Slashdotter knows that is the standard operating proceedure for FOSS (and yeah, with anything Apple does too, since they have Slashdot's "most favored monopoly" status).

Hey man, ease up - Firefox has only crashed six times for me today so far.

Oops. Uh. What I *meant* was:

      It's tEh M$ fault! Monopoly! Collusion! IE is t3h suxx0r! FF and *nix r00lzz, M$ dr00lz!

Yep. That's about what passes for reasoned argument on Slashdot these days.
