Paul Suspends Presidential Campaign, Forms New Org

JoeKuboj writes "Texas Rep. Ron Paul announced Thursday he is suspending his bid for the Republican presidential nomination to focus his time on building an organization to help recruit and elect 'limited government Republicans.' Paul's decision to leave the race is an acknowledgment he had no chance of winning the GOP nomination. But even in loss, Paul is one of a handful of candidates who walked away from this presidential contest a winner. His presidential campaign had a broad base of support that included traditionally fiscal and socially conservative Republicans to young people who were angry about the U.S. decision to wage war against Iraq."

For their own personal definition of "freedom." Freedom for whom? Freedom from what?

"Ron Paul was the freedom-oriented candidate. How is this confusing?

Because Ron Paul wants to eliminate many, perhaps most, of the protections of aforementioned civil liberties.

As to the topic itself, my initial reaction was "WTF????" He's just now suspending his nomination, long after all the Ron paul yard signs are gone and McCain has enough delegates that no one else can run as a Republican in this race?

I voted for him in the primaries, but seeing this I'm glad he lost. To continue to camaign after losing is brain dead.

As to the parent comment, I must not be a social conservative.
    • I don't know if a blastocyst is human, but I do know that since I am not a physician, if the fetus doesn't have my DNA then its abortion is none of my business, and it's not my governmnet's bueiness, either. I would prefer to conserve the values that my nation was founded on - he government should leave me the hell alone unlesss I'm harming someone else.

    • Killing is wrong. The "life for a life" goes directly against the "big ten" that Moses brought down; "thou shalt not kill". I am greatly offended that humans are murdered in my name by my government. Plus, we are all under sentence of death. When I die it will not likely be pleasant; bloody accident, cancer, or other terrible agony. I won't be humanely put to sleep like a beloved pet, why should a murderer? Keep the bastard alive as long as you can, let him suffer arthritis, blindness, deafness, dementia like the rest of us. Execution is far too good for murderers. It is NOT my government's right to kill people.

I am neither Morman nor Jew, though I worship the same God. My savior preached forgiveness above all else. I don't see how any Christian can be for the death penalty; killing is an unChristian an act as there is.

    • I see no reason to sanctify "civil unions". There is no discrimination - I can no more find a suitable woman to marry than if I could if I were gay.

The morality of cock sucking and butt sex (I refuse to use polite terms for impolite actions) doesn't come into play. Although I find it personally disgusting (the fact that I find it disgusting is evolution at work, BTW) it isn't my business. And it isn't one of Moses' commandments, either - just following those ten is too much for most imperfect humans.

If you want to fuck your sister that's ok with me, too. Buit I'm against letting you marry her. If you are for letting men marry men, how can you be against incest? Pretty much of a double standard if you ask me.

That goes for your cocker spaniel and your sheep, too. If you want to fuck them, fine, but I don't want my government letting you marry them.
