Joss Whedon's "Doctor Horrible" Set To Launch
Ololiuhqui writes "During the writer's strike, Joss Whedon came up with a musical idea. Now his diabolical plan is about to be unleashed in the form of a streaming-only release, with a DVD shortly to follow. The three-part Doctor Horrible series stars Neil Patrick Harris as the eponymous doctor, Felicia Day as the woman of his dreams, and Nathan Fillion as the doctor's nemesis, Captain Hammer. Reportedly made for 'less than six figures,' the series has already received rave reviews and will no doubt showcase Whedon's musical facility, as well as his proven ability to squeeze the most out of a budget."
Not surprising, really, if you remember Once More, with Feeling .

I wish I had mod points. A "They Might Be Giants" reference. How many of the current Slashdot crowd are going to get that? Bravo Sir.
If telephones are outlawed, then only outlaws will have telephones.
I just finished watching it and I've gotta' say, extremely well written. The whole cast turns out to be fantastic singers, which is a hilarious change of pace for those of you who know Nathan Fillion from Firefly. You'll love his "A Man's Gotta' Do! Next installments are on Thursday and Saturday. I'll be watchin' at midnight!
Yeah, the big button that then says "I'm sorry but this isn't available in [your country] iTunes store yet".
I am a leaf on the wind
Something unpleasant must have spilled on your brain, because that's MISTER Horrible.
Unless he got a PhD in the time since the song? I suppose it's possible.
I'm just surprised he and Whedon are still talking after Firefly...
Why would you say that? It's not like Whedon one day simply decided "screw this show, let's fire everybody." It was FOX who cancelled Firefly in a fit of pure stupidity or malice (not sure) and it had been hard on everyone involved. I don't recall hearing of bad blood between Whedon and Fillion, so seriously, what do you mean?
And which parallel universe did you crawl out of?
It's thanks to our previous government, who did absolutely everything they could to roll over and happily take whatever crap the US wanted to dish out, regardless of the wishes of the public. That's why we've been screwed over on imports/exports, have to live under the DMCA, and watched our universal health care stabbed in the back. Bastards are out of office now, thankfully.

I'm kind of surprised that Joss Whedon didn't do something along those lines, actually. NPH is homosexual, after all, and Joss Whedon enjoys breaking gender and sexual-preference stereotypes. I guess he wanted this to be more mainstream. *shrug*

Its becoming a standing point with me to not even bother to look at anything produced in the US anymore. Not because I don't think I'll like it. Not because I have anything against the US. This was special though, this was Joss and I love his stuff. But... because the US won't share with the rest of the world, I can't see it. I see all the CSI on TV, I hear all the latest songs on the radio.... but on the Internet I look elsewhere for content, too many times I get "only avalaible in the US". Wake up before you lose your audiences forever, you have a medium expanding daily in the 100's of million eyeballs and your audience is shrinking daily because of outdated, and frankly stupid rules regarding distribution. Sorry Joss, but if this ever becomes available outside the States I simply won't be bothered to go look. cheers obi
Don't forget to also check out the others Joss' current works:
This guy is feminist, pro-gay and atheist: he should run for POTUS!
There's a hidden treasure in Python 3.x: __prepare__()
It can be watched from outside the US now as well: http://doctorhorrible.net/now-available-outisde-usa/105/
The free world saves the day again (or something).
Since it's hosted by Hulu, they won't stream to a computer outside the U.S
Looks like it's fixed now. The homepage reads:
Somebody didn't wait until the end of the movie credits :)
Couldn't let this "informative" comment get by with such an inaccuracy.
Drive was actually by Tim Minear, the executive producer of Firefly. Who also keeps getting shows canceled by Fox. (I really wanted to see what happened in that race.)
I installed Linux on a car, but it crashed due to bad drivers...
He wasn't writing for a studio. He financed the project himself and got waivers from all of the Guilds to do this.
