Russia Considers Banning Emo and Goth Music

In an attempt to rid the country of excessive eyeliner, Dr. Martens, and self indulged sadness, the Russian government has proposed a new law that would make goth and emo music illegal. The law would also target websites and have emo and goth fashion banned in schools and government buildings. Officials say that goth/emo music are "negative culture" which encourage depression, social withdrawal and suicide. In Soviet Russia it is always winter and never Christmas.

    Emos are pussies.
    Goths usually kick emos asses.

    Emos shop and the mall.
Goths shop on the internet or make their own stuff because the mall is mainstream therefore emos are mainstream. Mainstream sucks.
Emos could be anyone including jocks, cheerleaders, preppies, and all the other cliques except for nerds and geeks.
Goths are in good company as many of them hang out with the intelegent crowd (nerds and geeks). If anyone remebers slashgoth.org (based on slashdot.org), goths seem to have a mutual relationship with nerds, and geeks.

Goths are industrial geeks. You will probably see them as an architect or computer programmer ten years from now.
Emos (pending they haven't voluntarily killed themselves) end out working in marketing, business, or some other University of Phonies program.

Being russian myself, I can say that possibly they can regulate what people wear in schools. I mean, because many countries even have "school uniforms", so the idea of banning "different" clothes seems possible. Though, right now we can wear anything we want in schools or anywhere else for that matter. If they accept the new law, I expect lots teenagers start sabotaging the school buildings and it won't be any good for anyone.

But saying "will make goth and emo music illegal" sounds very suspicious to say the least. How is that even possible? This is not USSR anymore and most people who are into emo and goth have been living for the most of their life in relatively free country. It just won't go anywhere.

If they really start blocking emo/goth websites, things will get ugly.
