Ogg Theora In Firefox, With Wikimedia Support
An anonymous reader writes "Ogg Theora support for the HTML5 <video> tag is in the Firefox 3.1 nightlies. Theora is the only video format allowed on Wikimedia Commons, so Wikimedia people are pushing Wikipedia readers to download a nightly and try it out. Break it, crash it, report bugs, get it into good shape and nullify Apple and Nokia's FUD the best way possible. They may have gotten the words 'Vorbis' and 'Theora' removed from the HTML5 spec, but the market will tell them when their browsers are sucking."
Apple will win, I guarantee it. Apple, more than any other company, has proven that closed source software backed by smart programmers and executives is able to make kick-ass software better than anything the open sores community can come up with. Compare OS X to Lin-sux for example. OS X is more stable, more secure, has advanced features lin-idiots can only dream of (ZFS, a usable gui, etc) and JUST WORKS. No struggling with drivers, installing software, or suffering from daily crashes and disk corruption. Now compare the iPhone to Openmoko (the closest thing the open sores community can come up with). The iPhone is here today, it actually works, and works PERFECTLY. It does everything anyone could ever ask, and does it with style, substance and flair. When people see you using an iPhone, they know you are a smart successful person, when they see you using an openmoko phone, they wonder why you are yelling at your phone and smashing it against the ground and yelling "why wont you work!!!!!" typical open sores, all hype and no worky worky.
