The DIY Dialysis Machine

Millie Kelly was born with a condition that required an immediate operation. During this operation her kidneys started to fail and since she was too small for dialysis machines, doctors told her parents that she was unlikely to live. Luckily for Millie, Dr. Malcolm Coulthard and a colleague tried to build a much smaller kidney machine on their own and they were successful. Her mother said, "It was a green metal box with a few paint marks on it with quite a few wires coming out of it into my daughter - it didn't look like a normal NHS one." The girl was hooked up to the machine over a seven day period to allow her kidneys to recover. Two years later, her mother Rebecca says she is "fit as a fiddle." You should see what Dr. Coulthard can build using a postage stamp, a tuning fork, a lawn chair and a jellyfish.

Children of overweight parents are more likely to suffer serious health problems during infancy. Just sayin'.

Fat people got mod points? The above wasn't flamebait, it was fact.

That said, my "supersize me" diet hasn't paid off a bit. None of the weight has gone where I wanted it, but at a bar the other day some smartass asked "when is it due?"

Also, just because children of overweight mothers (the father's weight has nothing to do with the infant's health) often suffer health problems during infany doesn't mean that all do, or that fit women's infants don't. When my oldest was born, my ex-wife wasn't obese, yet Leila had health problems. Evil-X was big as a house when Patty came along, but aside from colic she was healthy.

Look at China. There is no such thing called malpractice liability, and now many of the inventions are coming up in China. There is no such thing similar to the DMCA in China, and things like Real-Time packet replication technology are being invented in China.

Better yet, don't post pictures at all. That's why we have LINKS.

If we wanted pictures cluttering up Slashdot we'd ask for them, and the pic in question isn't informative or interesting. If we wanted some housecow and her brat we'd go to an appropriate site.
