IT Repair Installs Webcam Spying Software

Vapon writes "A lady noticed her computer was running slower after she had brought her computer in to be repaired. She took the computer to a second repair shop where they found that one of the problems was that her webcam would turn on whenever it detected her around and was taking photos and uploading it to a website. The repair technician that installed the software has done this to at least 10 women and has photos of at least one undressing."

The get-out clause would be to add "working for Apple" to the technician's description. You see, it's recently been discovered that Apple has installed a backdoor to disable apps running on iPhones, but because it's Apple and Apple can do no wrong, it's ok to have that sort of control over a device if you're Apple (Apple is a registered trademark of Apple, Inc., the overpriced hype machine formerly known as Apple Computer, Inc.).

In fact, if Apple were to take a video stream from its iSights and save them in Cupertino (the bandwidth requirements would explain why MobileMe's so bloody slow), those consumed by the RDF would probably explain that it was part of a new interface experiment to examine how people use computers and to make the Apple experience even closer to heaven than it already is.

Those disagreeing would do so in the belief that Apple already is heaven, and that the spying was necessary to stop people from copying the UI and using it in Windows. Xerox might have something to say but they're too busy unjamming a copier installed in their futuristic paperless office.
