IE8 Breaking Microsoft's Web Standards Promise?

An anonymous reader points out a story in The Register by Opera Software CTO Hakon Lie which tells the story of how Microsoft's interoperability promise for IE8 seems to have been broken in less than six months. Quoting: "In March, Microsoft announced that their upcoming Internet Explorer 8 would: use its most standards compliant mode, IE8 Standards, as the default. Note the last word: default. Microsoft argued that, in light of their newly published interoperability principles, it was the right thing to do. This declaration heralded an about-face and was widely praised by the web standards community; people were stunned and delighted by Microsoft's promise. This week, the promise was broken."

nothing new/surprising about that. fear is unprecedented evile's primary weapon. that, along with deception & coercion, helps most of us remain (unwittingly?) dependent on its' greed/fear/ego based hired goons' agenda. is it time to get real yet? A LOT of energy is being squandered in attempts to keep US in the dark. in the end (give or take a few 1000 years), the creators will prevail (world without end, etc...), as it has always been. the process of gaining yOUR release from the current hostage situation may not be what you might think it is. butt of course, most of US don't know, or care what a precarious/fatal situation we're in. for example; the insidious attempts by the felonious corepirate nazi execrable to block the suns' light, interfering with a requirement (sunlight) for us to stay healthy/alive. it's likely not good for yOUR health/memories 'else they'd be bragging about it? we're intending for the whoreabully deceptive (they'll do ANYTHING for a bit more monIE/power) felons to give up/fail even further, in attempting to control the 'weather', as well as a # of other things/events.

Obama is a disciple of Saul Alinsky, and the change he refers to in very vague terms is really a forceful and wholesale changeover from capitalism to socialism. Liberals only refer to this change in very vague terms because they know that the American people would flatly reject such change if they were fully aware of it. It is the desire of the Democrat party to expand the power and scope of government, and to turn the country on it's head - from a country where the government derives its power from the people, to one where the people derive their rights from the government. Now I know what it must have been like to live in pre-WWII Germany as Hitler was coming to power. I'm completely surrounded by people who have lost their mind for this very charismatic speaker, and who have no idea (nor do they care) what this guy's intentions really are.

Indeed. Just because Google's tried to redefine the word to mean "ongoing product, but we're not liable for any issues you may encounter though we'll do our best to resolve them" doesn't mean the rest of the world has accepted the definition. Don't get me wrong - there's nothing wrong with Google's products (I use many of them on a daily basis, as do many others here), but their decision to eschew version numbers in favor of a continual disclaimer label isn't exactly industry standard.
