Xbox Price Cuts Confirmed
Kotaku notes that the suspected price cuts to the various Xbox 360 systems have been confirmed. Xbox Live's Major Nelson posted the new prices ($199 for the Arcade, $299 for the Pro, and $399 for the Elite) and pointed out a BusinessWeek story discussing the changes. The price cuts will take effect on September 5th.
Now if Sony wants to honestly compete in this generation, they need to drop their core model to $300 before Black Friday.
Uh, no. PS3 is fast on its way to overcoming 360's installed base without Sony having to do that.
After Sony blew Microsoft and Toshiba's dead HD-DVD out of the market with BR there is little reason for Microsft to continue wasting time in the console market.
The E&D divison looks like the retarded child in every financial report with the massive losses they've racked up over the past seven years.
There almost certainly isn't going to be another Xbox. Microsoft has been trying to find another sucker to make Xbox hardware for them while they sit back and rack in online gaming fees and licenses and no one has been stupid enough to bite.
The 360 will most likely to continue to die in the market and will be forgotten by Microsoft as they move on to more promising and viable products over the next few years.
Clearly you have never worked for a business, cunt.
The Xbox 360 disaster was supposed to be were Microsoft got it right. Instead they managed to create the worst console in history.
The PS3 is selling at the same massive year over year growth rate as the PS1 and PS2. Sorry, the PS3 is on track to repeat the worldwide sales levels of the previous two Playstation consoles.
Of course that is referring to Reality and not Xbox fanboy Vgchartz fantasyland.
The Xbox 360:
Is the only console ever to actually be defective in design - not a single faulty component or the other realtively minor problems previous consoles have had.
One look at the mess of a motherboard makes it clear why. It looks like something a teenager would slap together with parts from RadioShack.
It is the only console in history to every have a smaller amount of storage compared to previous generations - only 7 GBs vs 8.5 GBs last gen
It is one of the noisiest consoles ever made thanks to the outdated insanely fast spinning DVD drive
The DVD drive destroys or scratches discs
You can't upgrade the harddrive without out spending double or more on a Microsoft made drive
The online service is a complete joke compared to PCs and the PS3 with being forced to 50 dollars a year for laggy P2P networking instead of standard dedicated servers
Three years into the console's life the weak and poorly designed 360 graphics hardware only has a goddamn outdated crossplatform Unreal Engine game as its 'graphical showpiece'.
Worst. Console. Ever.
There isn't any other console in history that comes in close second. No other company has the massive resources combined with complete incopetence to create a disaster of the maginitude the 360 turned out to be.
I'm told the cheapest model lacks a power cable, which you need to go out and buy separately. Pretty cruel. If so, you won't be bringing that home and playing it right away... .
