The London Stock Exchange Goes Down For Whole Day

Colin Smith writes "TradElect, the Microsoft .Net based trading platform for the London Stock Exchange, was offline for about seven hours, meaning that their 5-nines SLAs are shot for approximately the next 100 years. The TradElect system was launched back in June of 2007 and was designed for increased speed and system capacity."

nice whoring for linux. slashdot is proud. it uses linux for some stupid ftp server. who cares?

nobody is going to trust toy OS linux for anything mission critical. aix, solaris are miles ahead. miles.

ofcource server is the only place where linux can even offer something. mostly because its free. cheap web hosts like to cut costs. on the desktop its a joke. 10 years.. 1 billion invested, 0.83% market share. lol even when MAJOR companies like IBM backing it, nobody gives a shit about linux.

Agreed. It's a bit of flame-bait mentioning them in the summary...

If there's a bit of flame-bait in the summary it's probably because you should NOT use windows for mission critical stuff...

That's usually a job for Linux and UNIX systems... Then it really doesn't matter if it was a windows bug, a software bug, network bug or just a power outage... If you system runs windows and it dies, really a flame-bait in the summary is appropriate... especially on slashdot :)
