Microsoft To Announce Jerry Seinfeld Ads Cancelled

An anonymous reader writes "Valleywag says the Jerry Seinfeld ads are over — In a phone call, Frank Shaw confirms that Microsoft is not going on with Seinfeld, and echoes his underlings' spin that the move was planned. There is the 'potential to do other things' with Seinfeld, which Shaw says is still 'possible.' He adds: 'People would have been happier if everyone loved the ads, but this was not unexpected.'"

Now the population can appreciate a massive failure from Microsoft that approaches the level of software engineering failure that is Windows.

(too bad, "five nines" of population won't be able to parse the above sentence)

(too bad, they also won't see the difference between "five nines" and "five ninths")

(in other words, if you are reading this and didn't already figure out WTF is it all about, YOU ARE STUPID, KILL YOURSELF!)

The post is so typical of the crap on Slashdot. Who the fuck runs this blog? Valleywag? Who the fuck are they? They insist the planned move on from Seignfeld is some kind of conspiracy. Of course, they offer no evidence of that, we just have to take their world for it. Why? So they can get publicity.

Slashdot used to be a place I could turn to for a reliable collection of news.... now it's just a Linux fanboi site, foaming at the mouth for a chance to piss on Microsoft.

I read this and thought we were still talking about the US dumping it's IT waste overseas. So now we can look forward to seeing these ads on Indian television? Although I probably would pay to see a bollywood version.

Yeah you're a real marketing genius alright, you've got it all figured out. I can see why you're working with a prestigious advertising company and not posting sarcastic bullshit remarks on Slashdot.

Go ahead and make another lame joke, I'm waiting. (Not really)

Giving Vista away won't help. People already think they get it "for free" with their new computer and they still hate it. UAC was designed to annoy people, it's still buggy, and digital restrictions are something people will always hate anyway. If you think that's bad, just let people screw their computers up trying to install that pig themselves. They come back saying things like this.

I think it's safe to dismiss that annoying list of yours. If not for the sheer number of invalid and made-up "facts" in it, the dollar sign crapflood, the comments on there or even the hilarious 4chan image linking is more than enough to write it off as propaganda and dismissed "without further thought", as you say.

What's funny (pun intended) is that the people who didn't think Seinfeld was funny attribute it to the show itself instead of their own lack of a sense of humor. The fact that they don't "get it" sort of solidifies it.

Your not the only one who didn't think that Seinfeld was funny. I do think your on to something about about group think though. I had more than a few friends that would watch it every week but they never commented on how good the show was. I think they where just watching it because everyone else was and nobody was brave enough to say how bad the show really was.

I can't stand Jerry Seinfeld in any format and I hated friends with a passion. Never understood the appeal of that shit. But I guess I'm strange.

Well, your spelling is certainly strange, if nothing else.

And that specifically is why Seinfeld isn't funny. He's funny if you are a complete moron. Otherwise, his "observations" are all things that are trivially explained if you have half a clue.

    Apparently, most of America doesn't.
