well i used to drive through monticello (wisconsin) all the time. and yeah there are amish people everywhere. but this isn't that annoying. what's annoying is when they are on the goddamned road going five miles an hour in a 55mph zone in their fuckin horse drawn carts.
This is a great example of hypocrisy, and an amusing one at that..

Before you claim hypocrisy you need to understand their core beliefs. I do not know but I have heard that the no cars thing has as much to do with refusing to accept a license from the government, they do not participate in social security either, than technology. And it could vary sect by sect. That said it is a funny pic.
The Amish apparent aversion to technology isn't about technology itself but about staying away from consumerism and maintaining a high degree of self sufficiency. If you never have a tv or car, you never feel the need to get a better tv or car. If you dress in a very regimented traditional manner, you don't feel the need to go buy the latest fashion. and so on..
