$35 a Ticket Theater To Open Soon In Redmond

The finishing touches are being added for the opening of Gold Class Cinemas in Redmond, Washington. The theater will charge $35 a person, but you will be greeted by a concierge at the door. The theater offers jazz, modern art, a bar and a full wine list, with the most expensive bottle going for $625. You can also enjoy a menu selected by a world renowned chef. "We have a fresh crab cakes, which is made with fresh Dungeness and lemon aioli and wines from around the world, Italy France, Americas, Spain," said Kirk Senior, CEO of Gold Class Cinemas. It's good to know that there is a place where you can drop a few hundred while watching the latest installment of the Deuce Bigalow franchise.

    Makes my new home theater look that much more cost competitive!

    Seriously, though, this might be fun for a night out. $35 a seat; $70 a couple plus dinner, if it's not foolishly priced (say, entree and side and a beverage for under $40 pp) wouldn't be much more than a night out at Morton's.

    Heck, with regular tickets north of $10 in cheap areas, an extra $50 for a "quality" setting might appeal to a certain crowd.

    (Actually, given the bits of the HT I built, I'm only in about $2k over the playroom we were finishing anyway. Plus the wine and food is cheaper, although I have to cook. Still, a show a month would cover my costs. WooHoo!)

      The local theater around here is $4 for Seniors, and children under 12, and $5 for adults, except for 1 PM matinees (Sat and Sun) and Thursday night (Bargin Night) where all seats are $3. This does not include drinks and popcorn which are reasonable compared to other theaters as well.

      Nothing is "reasonable" in a metropolitan area. (For a college student) :(

    ... then $35/seat is no problem. It's about time that theater managers recognized the value loss caused by letting people bring their precious snowflakes into R-rated movies at 10 PM, and by selling seats to the American equivalent of chavs.
