China Eases Licensing Rules For Foreign Media Sources
The New York Times reports that China has "agreed to loosen restrictions on foreign news and information providers inside the country, settling a trade dispute with the United States, the European Union and Canada." Formerly, all such news sources required licensing through China's official Xinhua News Agency. Note that the focus seems to be on financial reporting and information, rather than all forms of news reporting.
Hear, hear. At least now you US people know what a lot of non-US people have to endure to get into the US.
At the consulate in Amsterdam it's like you are entering some DMZ and the guards all act paranoia.
It was a good thing I didn't have to pass all the bureaucrats, as I was invited by an international organization and you only need to do the formal paperwork for the G4 and be done with it. But I pity all those others.
My experiences with the Thai and South-Korean Consulates/Embassies were much better.
