Internal Emails Released In Vista Capable Debacle
An anonymous reader writes "As previously discussed, Microsoft's attempt to shield itself from further discovery over the Windows Vista Capable debacle has failed and more internal emails have been released. Although Microsoft has successfully kept CEO Steve Ballmer away from the witness stand on grounds the he 'has no unique knowledge of the facts in this case,' emails suggest otherwise. An email was released in which Intel CEO Paul Otellini thanks Ballmer for listening and making changes to the program allowing their 915 chipset to pass the grade: 'I know you did it.'"
So the guy doesnt' know how to change his wireless channel?
Genius.
No. You are only a troll.
Vista's problem is, it doesn't really make people feel like they "got what they paid for" in many cases.
What I'm saying is that the fault of that lies not in the operating system but in the garbage machines produced by OEMs. If the "Vista Experience" is what you were seeking, but it is not what you got, I can understand that it's tempting to blame the OS. The fact is that experience is definitely there, but if you can't get to it because your computer can't bring it to you, that is totally the system builder's fault for saying it would happen when it would not (and yours for not investigating the matter first).
Boot Windows, Linux, and ESX over the network for free.
Vista has absolutely no real operating issues or compatibility problems.
The largest reported compatibility issues showed up on GAMES that won't run on any operating system other than Windows anyway, making the entire point moot to begin with.
People say Vista is bloated, I saw a comment on the first page stating that 30gb of HDD space, 256mb video card and 2GB of RAM just to run an OS is ridiculous. In reality, it really is not. 500GB HDD's retail for $99 or less, 2GB of RAM retails for $50 or less, a 256mb video card capable of running Aero costs under $100. Add in a motherboard $50, processor $90, power supply $40, sound card $20, and a case to stick it all in $50 and you have spent a FRACTION of what the lowest tier of PC's cost less than 3 years ago.
The entire Anti-Vista movement was spurned by he-said-she-said drivel.
It doesn't matter if an OS is perfect or not, we will always have pseudo-intellectuals who probably work tier 2 technical support or less, that will convince themselves that the OS is bad because it won't run on their overpriced 'top-o-the-line' PC... that they bought 5 years ago.
In the corporate world, Microsoft is god. Windows 2000/2003 servers run businesses. Nix machines and the like are novelties for un-evolved engineers. The top fortune 500 companies are fairly more objective than the average anonymous user as they NEED to focus on the bigger picture. Whether to continue using Microsoft products will never be a topic for the board to discuss...
Looks like you are having a hard time making that true. I now see interesting, underrated and insightful mods. You would like twitter to never be heard, but the issue is bigger than that.
Care to give us M$'s official position on the anti-trust implications of Vista not working with Intel chipsets that free software works well with?
Political torture and murder is not funny http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=581079&cid=23757591
Oh hi Twitter, again.
Whilst I'm not quite as rabidly anti M$ as you are I actually agree with a lot of what you say, I just don't agree with how you say it and I refuse to mod-up (yes I do have points at the moment) anyone who is trying to "game the system" by using sockpuppets and talking to themselves.
