Obama Recommends Delay In Digital TV Switch
gregg writes "Six weeks before the nation's television stations are scheduled to convert to digital transmission, the Obama administration is asking Congress to consider a delay. In the most significant sign to date of concern about the impending digital TV transition, the Obama transition team co-chair John Podesta said the government funds to support the change are 'woefully inadequate' and said that the digital switch date, Feb. 17, should be 'reconsidered and extended.'"
They have successfully delivered a program to get low cost converter boxes to anybody who was paying any attention.

Okay, that gets a huge FUCK YOU for not knowing a fucking thing about poverty. Lots of people are hard working, even quite knowledgeable, but still poor, and when they get home at night they would like to relax with some cheap-as-in-free entertainment. Leisure time is not the sole pervue of the rich nor poverty solely the realm of the ignorant, you bourgeoisie prick.
I swear, if this economy keeps getting worse there's only going to be one upside and that's knocking certain priviliged asshats off their high horse.

I'm willing to bet that if your friend tried he could find $10 he's wasting. Does he smoke? Drink? Buy junk food? I used to blow $80 a month on two cell phones. A couple years ago the contract finally expired and I've been on prepaid ever since. It doesn't get any cheaper than Tracphone. It only takes a minute to call someone and tell them to come over. The cell phone now costs less than $10 a month.
I also used to fast food for lunch which cost around $5 a day. Now I spend less than $2 a day and bring in cheap frozen entrees. I also cut out soda and just drink water during the day.
The cost of the coverter box after the coupon is around $10. Also if he's a best friend of yours then say "Happy " and get him a converter box so he can relax with a nice clear digital picture and some snazzy new channels that are digital only.
It's priorities. I'm getting a coupon and paying for the converter box with some money I earned blogging with SocialSpark.com
And no, going a year without TV and spending the time finding ways to better yourself wouldn't kill you. Sometimes it takes hard work and sacrifice to pick yourself up and make your life easier going forward. Choose to be miserable for a year so you can be happy for the rest of your life.
