Goat Detained In Armed Robbery

Nigerian police are holding a goat on suspicion of attempted armed robbery. "The group of vigilante men came to report that while they were on patrol they saw some hoodlums attempting to rob a car. They pursued them. However one of them escaped while the other turned into a goat," said Kwara state police spokesman Tunde Mohammed. He should have turned into a car and drove away.

Ummm ... he means the people that thought the dude turned into a goat. Duh.

Oh! Wait ... you're trying to infer some sort of discrimination in that statement. I get it now ... you can't refute a people's belief if they are a different nationality/ethnicity than yours. Cause that's discrimination, of course!

Not that uncommon of a belief in Nigeria. You really underestimate the level of superstition in some African countries. Not only a "witch hunts" and killings a regular enough thing, but so are ritual killings to cut off body parts for sale to traditional animistic shamans.

You didn't think the whole world has adopted modern, Western sensibilities about the presence of supernatural monsters and black sorcerers behind every rock and tree? Take away the use of human body parts in tribal rituals, we weren't all that different 400 years ago or even 200 years ago. We all get a good laugh about it, but it's a real cultural problem there.

I happen to think a culture is way worse off into superstition when it has managed to make a large portion of the populace to participate in a uniform and officially sanctioned belief system compared to just having people believing stuff they feel like believing. Incredibly medieval.
Financial crisis? Lack of innovation? Internationally ridiculed? Well, I, for one, isn't surprised.

So I'd say it almost worse in the U.S. when a leader of a country have to confess to believe in gods in the heavens(far cooler than ones behind the rocks and trees) to be allowed to run the country. Yes. He had to. And it even had to be through the teachings of the correct prophet.
The last one even said that he acted on religious inspirations. What year was it again? 1300?
To compare, the PDP, the ruling party of Nigeria, seem to have enough Western sensibilities. Even though the current President is a muslim, the one before him Olusegun Obasan, was christian. This effectively makes Nigeria more religiously open than the U.S of A.

No. It's time for the U.S. citizen to start living life the more difficult way by studying -> knowing instead of chewing gum -> believing.
