    Hm. If I was playing some adventure game on my compy and I had the option of getting up and physically entering the game world to do whatever I wanted with actual, instant feedback and consequences to my actions. . .

    It's that single life and no save which makes everybody so bloody cautious. . !

    And these days, one quarter only gets you about as far as it would in an arcade.

      ...Not to mention the fantasy and/or historical situations that many games are set in. It's really hard to get to 1944 Japan, or post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. in RL. I use my games as an escape from reality, much like a book, or booze.

      I agree, reality sucks as a game. I mean you only get 1 life, weak weapons, can't kill people you don't like, can't level up very fast, start out with little money, can get all sorts of nasty diseases, can make all sorts of stupid mistakes with irreversible repercussions.
