Unreal Tournament 3 "Titan Pack" Expansion Coming In March
An anonymous reader writes with news that Unreal Tournament 3 will be getting a free expansion called Titan Pack on March 5th. It will contain a variety of new maps, and two new game modes: Greed and Betrayal. There will also be new weapons, deployables, and achievements. IGN's preview of the expansion mentions a few more improvements, such as an improved voting system and client-side demo recording for the PC version. Quoting: "... the most obvious addition to the series is the new Titan. As you play through the game, killing enemies, completing goals and generally avoiding damage, you'll build up your Titan meter. Once it fills up, you can instantly mutate into a 15' tall Titan. The Titan has massive health, a decent shield belt and can fire homing rockets. Oh, and he can also pound the ground to knock back any enemies that get too close. In short, the Titan is a real game changer."
Now when are we going to get the Linux install like the other Unreal Tournaments that we've been waiting for for so long?
Don't worry about it, UT3 is not a very good game. The lack of Linux/Apple support was just another in a long line of disappointments regarding the game.

Isn't this the kind of thing that makes stronger players stronger, and weaker players weaker?
I always liked mods which made weaker players stronger. Like the 'fat head' mod, or whatever it was called, that would increase the size of your head the more kills that you got, making it easier for the weaker players to get headshots. Evened out the game when playing with people with mixed abilities.
It's not just marketing. They have always released Linux versions of the UT series and it has been great. This is why I bought the game soon after it was released. I had no reason to think there would not be a Linux client.
The last Linux release was back in the Quake days though, I guess without competition they don't mind stuffing the Linux version in the closet.
What pisses me off most is how if you even mention the Linux client on the Epic forums your post will be deleted and you will get banned. The whole history is erased and no one on the outside is the wiser. There is a huge community and uproar that has been oppressed.
I don't use Windows other than in a VM. I want my money back. Maybe we should all put our games together on a big truckload and ship them back to Epic with a demand for our money back.
The ratio of people to cake is too big
for me. It's the game that made me decide that Epic no longer made good games and had all but abandoned the PC.
I loved UT, 03 and 04. But UT3 was really bad.
