With a Computer Science Degree, an Old Man At 35?
GrApHiX42 writes "I pissed away my 20s and now I want to go to school and get a bachelor's degree in computer science. The thing is, I'll be 35 when I get out of school, and I've read on numerous sites that there seems to be some ageism going on in the IT industry when it comes to older geeks. What have some of the 'older' Slashdot readers experienced as far as being replaced or just plain not getting hired because IT is a 'young man's game'?"
Meanwhile all the people in their 50s, 40s, 30s, and 20s who aren't pissing and moaning will take the jobs.
No, you're not an old man at 35. You're the same pisser and moaner you were in your 20s.
Let me know when you're ready to ask if I want fries with that.

I graduated at 50. When I show up for job interviews you should see their face fall. They were expecting a tall young man and they are unable to disguise their disappointment that I am a little old lady.
Maybe it is sexism, but I really do suspect it is age.
They don't say it--not officially--but they can't hide it.
But yes, go for it. Even if you are unemployed, at least you will have an accomplishment to be proud of.
35 is too old to be asking for a job. Whatever you do, don't worry about who will hire you, star worrying about who will YOU hire, because that's what you're supposed to be at 35. What kind of qualifications do they have?

That would make him quite stupid...
