Amazon Culls "Offensive" Books From Search System

Miracle Jones writes "Amazon has instituted an overnight policy that removes books that may be deemed offensive from their search system, despite the sales rank of the book and also irrespective of any complaints. Bloggers such as Ed Champion are calling for a 'link and book boycott,' asking people to remove links to Amazon from their web pages and stop buying books from them until the policy is reversed. Will this be bad business for Amazon, or will their new policies keep them out of trouble as they continue to grow and replace bookstores?"

So they sell them just not publicly allow them to be searched. On one side the pander to the bible thumping cons on the other they give service to their share holders.

I'd be more shocked if they took a stand... any stand.. and said this is the code of ethics that we're bound to uphold. But that's not what business is about.

Next up on /. - Disney makes horror movies and other profitable R rated flicks, shocking.

Consider this a troll, its true but you'll not see it ...

The reason people respond like this is because the only people that care are people like you that have enough time to whine about every little thing a business does that you don't agree with, regardless of why they are doing it or the fact that you haven't bothered to look into it, you just assume 'censorship' and 'evil'.

The only attention you're drawing to it is from other whiney little bitchs on slashdot that are too busy bitching about the fact that everything in the world isn't free and isn't under GPL to actually do anything useful in society.

You should consider picking what you choose to whine about rather than whining about everything, you'll find it far more effective. The way it is now, no one cares about your whining because you're ALWAYS whining about SOMETHING regardless of how large or small it is.

Theres a shocker, someone does something you don't agree with so you scream 'censorship by the evil company'.

Ever wonder why normal people don't care about this shit and look at you like your stupid when you whine about it?

Ever hear of the boy who cried wolf?

Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean its censorship.

Which then by definition is religious people teaching their religion to young children.

It's interesting that so many think that they can somehow separate out religion as distinct from other beliefs. Are not the atheists going to give their children a copy of a Richard Dawkins book? Are they going to tell them whether or not they believe intellectual property to be a valid form of property? Are they going to share their love of classic cars or airplanes? Beliefs about deities are part of who you are, no different from your food preferences.
