Alan Cox Quits As Linux TTY Maintainer — "I've Had Enough"
The Slashdolt writes "After a stern criticism from Linus, the long-time kernel hacker Alan Cox has decided to walk away as the maintainer of the TTY subsystem of the Linux Kernel, stating '...I've had enough. If you think that problem is easy to fix you fix it. Have fun. I've zapped the tty merge queue so anyone with patches for the tty layer
can send them to the new maintainer.'" A response to a subsequent post on the list makes it quite clear that he is serious.
lol. nice name.
first post, buddy.
You girls kiss and make up. Quit being so fussy and don't get panties into a wad. Act like men!!!
Geeks bitch-slappin' geeks!
Yee-ha!
Rob Malda has a loose asshole.
I wonder if Linus visits Hans Reiser in prison... they seem to have compatible personalities.
For the time in years he's really free! While you sit at home fingering your closet server and hacking together another Post-It note clone, he's going to go out, get drunk, and finally get some real pussy. After he shaves, of course.
Fat nigger faggot.
Are you kidding me? It's a huge pile of dog turd with hair on it.
You think it's such a gem you fix it.
Maybe the fact that they had enormous dongs that would stretch you out Goatse style and enable you to poop without even thinking about it or sitting down affected your judgement?
"There is no logical justification for taking inferior, untested, unstable code over superior, stable, tested code. Even worse, there was no reason for Linus to repeatedly attack Con personally and lie about him." - by Enderandrew (866215) on Wednesday July 29, @04:22PM (#28872675) Homepage
Sounds to me, per my subject-line, & assuming you are "telling it how it was/is" (& I think you are, because I recall all of that going on on the "completely fair scheduler" etc. et al) because Linux is NOT my "forte" (or rather, my concentration, Win32 is), that you MAY be "onto something", human nature, being what it is!
I.E.-> Per your narrative, it really does sound as if 'Mr. T.' ("Penguin #1" Linus) was being like Edison was to Nikola Tesla - & Edison could NOT STAND there was someone more brilliant than himself, & consistently so!
(Especially on the Alternating Current vs. Direct Current ("war of the currents" near the turn of last century's beginnings)... Edison went nuts, even trying to erase Tesla from the histories (which he ALMOST succeeded in no less)).
E.G.-> At the turn of the century & before it? Hey - Tesla was CONSTANTLY in "the limelight" for his numerous discoveries &/or inventions... This, in turn along with DC winning out via George Westinghouse over Edison's inefficient AC (due to the need for MULTIPLE repeater stations due to signal attenuation iirc), sent Edison over the edge, & he tried that - &, you no longer saw Tesla constantly in the papers etc. et al... THIS?
This is the "power" of big bucks, & a massive ego that's been "affronted" by someone who's THAT much bigger, & BETTER... which Tesla was (nothing against Edison, but he was largely outclassed by Tesla, period).
I've had it done to me, it is NOT fun... but, you simply "move on", & hopefully? To much, Much, MUCH "bigger things"... the right thing to do, after all! I hope Mr. Kolivas does the same, & excels...
APK
P.S.=> As far as Mr. T.? Well, as Dr. Manhattan put it, to Ozymandias??
"I'm disappointed in you Adrian... VERY disappointed!"
From one coder to another... & I mean it, because Linus T/Penguin #1 should ALWAYS go for the highest performing & MOST efficient stuff, & put egotism aside! Linux itself, needs that... apk
It is sad that you get modded down for being honest. I guess the open sores fagbois can't face facts.
I hear that Alan Cox quit because he was sick of all the homosexual advancements made against him.
DIE LINUX FAGS, DIE!!!!
Please mod parent up
What a load of crap. Drag and drop is essential UI and is only implemented properly in OSX.
End of story, and stop whining.
Who the fuck cares what a hobo has to say about any of this? Get the fuck out of here.
An added point here, is that pretty much through the whole 2.3 and 2.4 kernels, Alan might as well have been the head of kernel development. I haven't kept up with 2.6, but Linus has pretty much always been terrible, depending on everyone else in the community to fix the utter crap that he half-wits.
