Wii Gets Price Cut To $199

After watching Microsoft and Sony drop the prices on the Xbox 360 and the PS3, Nintendo has decided to jump in with a price cut as well. Starting September 27th, the Wii will cost $199 in North America, a $50 drop from the previous price. Japan will be getting a slightly smaller price cut, but Europe seems to be left out of this change. Nintendo is hoping this reduction and the release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Fit Plus in the coming months will boost slipping sales rates.

Oh yeah, keep whining. In Europe we pay over a hundred bucks for a PS3 game sometimes.

Say, who decided that we Europeans were so rich that we could easily pay so much more for the same product? I am in the process of importing a PS3 Slim with two games and a controller from Canada. I'm saving one THIRD and that doesn't even include a tax refund!

Nope. There's only 7.6% sales tax in Switzerland. amazon.ca billed me around 10 percentish.

No, the problem is that for the Slim, they just took the price in US$ and exchanged the $ for a Euro sign. That's like a fifty percent markup right there.

    Well here's your problem...

not dating anyone serious or long enough to 'bring home to play video games'

I've been amazed at the random girls that will happily come on back to my place to play wii and keep partying. Of course you need to be looking at the 20 something crowd, but Nintendo really did expand game playing with the wii.

In my anecdotal study ;) bowling is typically the game of choice, especially to the non-gamer girls. Sometimes though, you come across those that will jam out with you on rockband.

Plus, asking some random girls to come back to your place to play the wii (all wii jokes aside) sounds so....innocent ;)
