Scientists Decry "Horrifying" UK Border Test Plan
cremeglace writes "Scientists are dismayed and outraged at a new project by the UK border agency to test DNA, hair, and nails to determine the nationality of asylum seekers and help decide if they can enter the UK. 'Horrifying,' 'naive,' and 'flawed' are among the words geneticists and isotope specialists have used to describe the 'Human Provenance pilot project.' The methods being used to determine ancestry include fingerprinting of mitochondrial DNA and isotope analysis of hair and nails. ScienceInsider blog notes that it is 'not clear who is conducting the DNA and isotope analyses for the Border Agency,' and that the agency has not 'cited any scientific papers that validate its DNA and isotope methods.' As a brit, I want most of the foreigners to fuck off. I have nothing against foreigners, but I want a points-based system like canada / australia have, so the foreigners have to add substantial value to the country. Or, if we have that(I'm not sure) I want it to be far stricter. and sweet jesus, I want the foreigners to get NO BENEFITS AT ALL. they must fuck off and beg from their own governments. Also, with unemployment this high, we shouldn't be taking in any more foreigners. also, I don't want to accomodate muslims/indians/any-other-society. they have their own countries that bend over backwards for them. if they want to live here, they obey our laws and live in our society. no honour killings in families or whatever nonsense. Finally, english. that's right. you want to live here, learn english. my sister went to an NHS hospital and the fucking doctor could barely speak a word. naturally, she demanded a different doctor.

No, I don't support the BNP, but this is why they're gaining voters. I don't care about 50% whites or less by 2012, my issue is that the foreigners we let in are the scum their own countries are glad to be without.
What parts of English culture are you proud of ? It's now unchangable history ? The ( exploitative ) Empire ? The ( not very genetically English ) Queen ? The ( as borrowed and mixed up as anywhere in Europe's ) Language ? The ( generally soggy and badly cooked ) Food ? The regular invasions of and resulting mixed genotype that comes of being a small island ?
... children will hopefully have as mixed a genotype as possible, for all it's benefits, and with the way the planet is going, a slightly darker skin may come in handy too.

Ok, I know cultures change. However, that doesn't mean that every change is good or desirable. I don't really like the trends I see in Europe currently. Others might have a different opinion.
Hell, I don't even like a lot of what I consider current European culture. Rampant selfishness and materialism and acceptance of corporate rule, risk-averse nanny-states, etc. I still don't think importing world-views from 3rd world countries would help at all.
I don't know or suggest any solutions. This is a difficult issue. Maybe we should restrict immigration from outside EU. Maybe we should restrict immigration from other EU countries as well. Maybe immigration doesn't really make much difference and we should allow more immigration. There are even some people who think culture should be ENGINEERED using scientific methods (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyond_Freedom_and_Dignity).
I just say that questioning immigration and dilution of local culture brought by immigration is a concern and a valid topic for discussion. And people bringing it up shouldn't be written off as Nazis or racists or whatever.

Why would you want to fuck up Scotland by importing poverty and a bunch of parasites that won't assimilate into your culture? The UK (& the rest of the EU & Western nations in general) needs to stop letting any asylum seekers in and start deporting the ones that they've taken in for the last 20 years or so. Whether or not one is allowed to immigrate should be determined on whether or not the skills one possesses is valuable to the country, not because of some sob story. IMHO, Japan has the only nation that is close to being sane on this topic.
