CBS Interactive Sued For Distributing Green Dam
Dotnaught writes "Solid Oak Software, maker of Internet filter CYBERsitter, on Monday filed a $1.2 million copyright infringement lawsuit against CBS Interactive's ZDNet China for distributing the Green Dam Internet filtering software. Green Dam was going to be mandatory on all PCs in China starting in July, but widespread criticism, including reports of stolen code, forced the Chinese government to reconsider. The lawsuit, if it succeeds, could force companies to give more thought to the risks of complying with mandates from foreign governments that violate US laws."

Hello, dumbass. Or is that imbécile. Maybe stompzinnige.
At any rate, estupido, here's the deal. If you are a US company, you can't legally infringe the copyright of another US company just because another countries government that you happen to be doing business in tells you to. That is what happened here. They should have negotiated a deal with the company they copied the code from. In lieu of that, they should have just, you know, wrote their own. I don't give a shit where you are from, or who the makeup of slashdot's readership is, don't be copying somebody elses code and passing it off as your own. Does that translate, dummkopf?
And who modded this persons shit up, anyway?
