Fruit Bats Have Oral Sex Too

sciencehabit writes "Researchers at Guangdong Entomological Institute in Guangzhou, China, have observed oral sex for the first time in a non-primate. During intercourse, female short-nosed fruit bats lick the genitals of their partner, a possible ploy to increase copulation time. The discovery suggests there may be a biological advantage to fellatio."

    i am no expert in the field, but i have seen my dogs lick each others balls while sniffing them. does that count as oral sex?

    FYI Mammals include the bats. But I'll leave it to others to explain the attraction of bat titties. But be careful. Where bats are concerned, rabies can be a sexually transmitted disease.

    "Documented undiscovered variation upon standard courtship behavior." And I guarantee you that some undergrad lackey in the future will have "Coded courtship behavior" as a line on their resume, because of course they have to document the frequency of fruit bat blowjobs. All the kinky stuff in science gets written up as "courtship behavior." If you see that on a resume, it's code for "Spent hundreds of hours watching animal porn."
