Florida Congressman Wants Blogging Critic Fined, Jailed
vvaduva writes "Florida Rep. Alan Grayson wants to see one of his critics go directly to jail, all over her use of the word 'my' on her blog. In a four-page letter sent to [US Attorney General Eric] Holder, Grayson accuses blogger Angie Langley of lying to federal elections officials and requests that she be fined and imprisoned for five years. Her lie, according to Grayson, is that she claims to be one of his constituents. Langley, Grayson says, is misrepresenting herself by using the term 'my' in the Web site's name."
That's so twisted.
Slavery is coercion, freedom is the lack of coercion. The current "health" bill is all coercion, the free market in health care is lack of coercion.
You think "profit over human life" is a bad thing? Wait until the "health" bill is passed, and there is no longer a profit motive involved in saving someone's life.
One of the major lessons of history is that freedom with its necessary partner small government promote widespread wealth; big government with its necessary partner totalitarianism cause widespread poverty. Another is that widespread wealth allows health and happiness; widespread poverty causes "suffering and loss of life."
The present "health" bill forces people into the hands of insurance companies (and maybe the government). The way to escape this fate is to make insurance NOT mandatory, and not to buy insurance. Most people can save far more money as a reserve against poor health than they will ever use. If that weren't so, insurance companies would go broke. It also means that for most people, buying insurance is both foolish and cowardly.

Yeah, totally new idea.
It's not like some dude named Bill was regularly lambasted for him hammy appeals to emotion. Back in like, 92. Totally never happened. People still to this day don't say things like "for the children" and "i feel your pain" in a poor impression of some guy named Bill in an ironic manner.
Oh yeah, Bill. I'd forgotten about him. Yup, he used emotional language too, and he got elected too.
My point stands - use emotional language and you stand a better chance of getting elected. What is different about the two parties is that Republicans have been more consistently good at it than the Democrats.
Drill baby drill - on Mars
If it had been a (R) every news organization would have already covered it ... in spades ... on the Front Page or lead in on the nightly news.
Can you imagine what would happen to a (R) if they called someone a WHORE on TV?
Yeah, they would have been driven from office in no short order. So, yeah, if you want to talk about bias, it isn't just what you report, but how, and to what end.
When 15 people show up for "Liberal" protest, the news reports "Dozens", when 5000 conservatives do the same thing, "some" showed up.
And don't get me started on the whole White Racist Gun Toting Teabaggin protester, who turned out to be a black guy. Oh, there is no bias in the nightly news.
FOX NEWS is balance, when you have a "tingly feeling running down your leg" as fare on the other channels.
Agent K: A *person* is smart. People are dumb, stupid, panicky animals, and you know it.
What's really odd is that there are so few blacks who are Republicans. It seems to me on most core issues gun rights, abortion, death penalty, school of choice, taxation, gay marriages, and many others most blacks lean more to the conservative side. Is it historical? Is it patronage(in the form of social programs)? Is it the race peddlers Jackson/Sharpton/others?
Historically, black people voted Republican. Democrats were the party for discrimination, Jim Crow, etc., whereas Republicans got the right for black people to vote, join congress (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiram_Rhodes_Revels) and sent the army into the south to protect black rights.
All this got flipped around during the Great Depression, when FDR courted them actively (they were hit harder by the depression, proportionately speaking) and got them to abandon the Republican party in favor of the Democrats, whom they've been voting for ever since.
The real irony is that Democrats still were in favor of Jim Crow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Wallace), even through the 60s, whereas Republicans passed the various Civil Rights Acts over Democrat filibusters, including a 14 hour long speech by Robert C. Byrd, KKK member and current (2009) ranking Democrat senator. Republicans still believe in equal rights for black people, and this includes eliminating Affirmative Action (which gives special privileges to certain races) and similar unequal policies.
The entire notion that Republicans are racists is completely illogical, un-historical, and really the product of the fevered imaginations of lunatics like Jon Stewart, who beats on that idiot line like it's a congo drum.
Bill Clinton was no liberal. If you think he was, then I apologize that you were not properly educated.

The polls still say that 20% of the population is willing to call themselves Republicans. The rest of the conservatives are desperately trying to rebrand, and might even go as far as reform the Whig party.
Of course, if you get your news from Glen Beck then you might disagree. Please keep listening to that guy. The more deluded you are, the more impoverished your children will be. They'll make good servants, I am sure.
