The LHC Is Back Online

medea and several other readers noted that the LHC came back online early this morning. Here is the tweet from CERN announcing the milestone. As we discussed a few weeks ago, CERN plans to run the LHC at half power or less through 2011.

    It's not even funny anymore. I could see modding it as 'redundant' because it's so overdone, but 'Informative'?

    Canadian compasses work by gravity? That explains a lot.

    In a related note, I was snowed in part of the weekend and watched the last season of Trailer Park Boys and then the last Trailer Park Boys movie.

    I feel as though I now have a better understanding of the culture of our neighbors to the North. [note: for those of you Canadians using gravity-based compasses, that means you're the ones closer to where Santa Claus lives]

    But congratulations on your great hockey victory tonight. Is it true that the Canadian Women's Hockey team was made up of the best-looking women in Canada? I heard that rumor (or "rumour") in the bar earlier today while I was watching the hockey game, and I thought I'd check it with you.

    No, of course not. What's sad is that the Americans who started this rumour weren't joking around, as those were the thinnest women they'd ever seen.
