Perhaps in the eyes of the overlords, or perhaps evolution, STDs are a "feature not a bug" situation, a form population control. Reducing numbers through the attempt to increase numbers. While on this line of thought, I would liken using Norton to wearing 8 condoms, all which having been poked with a needle, and Spybot Search & Destroy being the "Pull-Out" contraceptive method, and disconnecting from the internet altogether being like a hysterectomy.
