4G iPhone Misplacer Invited To Germany For Beer
eldavojohn writes "You may recall the hapless engineer who left a fairly sensitive iPhone at a bar recently. Well, in a PR stunt, Lufthansa has invited him to visit Germany on their dime after citing his latest Facebook status, 'I underestimated how good German beer is' as well as his obvious passion for German beer and culture. It's not clear if Gray Powell has decided to 'pick up where he last left off' (as the letter puts it). I know what my decision would be."
LOL!
Intentional? You mean the intentional way that Southpark writers and Comedy Central got together to irritate fans by stating that the censorship was done to keep those scary muslims from killing the writers? (I would sort of believe that in the sense that it is ridiculously out of control and no one needs to die over such things. But if the aim is to take the public's opinion of islam down about ten notches, they may have accomplished it.)
In any case, intentional PR stunt? Well, if they guy still has his job after such gross negligence, I would say "yeah... either he works for a Japanese company or it's a stunt." (Makes me wonder, did anyone get fired over the famous Bill Gates Win95 blue-screen debacle?) And is there any precedence of Apple firing anyone over such mishaps in the past?
Noted Slashdot poster John C. Randolph (jcr) used to work for Apple, as I understand it. We need him to get over here and sort out fact from fiction.
John, what happened in this case? Was this an intentional leak that has gone "viral", as intended? Was this a legitimate mistake that has been exploited? Was this a sale of prototype goods that went bad for the seller? Is there some other story behind this?
John, deliver us to the truth, and deliver the truth to us.
