Review of HTC Desire As Alternative To iPhone
Andrew Smith writes "My search for an alternative to the iPhone has been long and frustrating. On paper, the HTC Desire is the first serious challenger to the iPhone's reign as king of phones. But how does it compare in use? There is much good and much bad. (This review is primarily for UK readers as HTC's new handset, the Incredible, will not be available [in the UK].)"
Very obviously not.
Still, if you are trying to make a point, it really helps if the facts presented in your own post support your point.

And while there are certainly people like that who like Apple, they are no different than Linux zealots; and would you say that either camp was indicative of the userbase of both platforms?
I'm a "Linux zealot." I consider myself way better than an Apple fanboy. I'll install Windows onto peoples' computers if they need/want it, and I try to talk them into a dual boot explaining they can use that for banking or "just screwing around." Some people like it, some people don't. I sometimes talk about reasons to not use Windows and instead to use a Linux distro. Either way, most people these days need Windows for some sort of software that is single platform. Most Apple fanboys I meet tend to talk about looks and "feel" of Apple devices, and how easy they are to use. Kudos for them. But that's not a "good reason" to use that OS. Either way, to each is his own. I explain various reasons to switch, and leave it up to the people.
