Verizon Changing Users Router Passwords
Kohenkatz writes "I have Verizon FIOS at home and my Verizon-supplied Actiontec router had the password 'password1' that the tech assigned to it when he set it up three years ago. I received an email from Verizon that said 'we have identified that your router still had a password of either password1 or admin1 and we have changed it to your serial number.' I checked and it actually had been changed. I believe this to be in response to the Black Hat presentation about the hackability of home routers. I am upset about this because Verizon should not have any way to get into my router and change the settings, especially because I own the router, not them! I looked in the router's settings and I see port 4567 goes to the router and is labeled 'Verizon FIOS Service.' Is this port for anything useful other than Verizon changing settings on my router? What security measures does Verizon have to protect that port from unauthorized access?"
if you were first instead of password1, you would not have had any trouble. I had lots of trouble deciphering the summary, though...
The reason for that involves my actual understanding of the English language. If I didn't understand English then I could be convinced that you make some kind of valid point. You mean "even though he was stupid and careless". And it is much ado about nothing. You don't have even a cursory understanding of the issues here. Hell, you even think you can just disregard the fact that the word "if" is a conditional expression whenever it suits you, and want to chide others into making the same mistake rather than own up to yours. It's OK. Even though you are clueless, I'll let it slide just this once ;-)

I appreciate your willingness to own up to an error. We ALL make mistakes. I confess that I didn't consider that English might not be your first language for example ;-) This is due in large part to the fact that MOST Americans have the "you should join me in my error rather than correcting me" attitude that I thought you were pushing. In any case, I think we are at an impasse since I claim there is nothing to talk about and this is much ado about nothing. Perhaps you could make an assertion to which I could then either agree or disagree? (I promise to not be so abrasive; as I said I overreacted)

If I disagree with a post, I moderate it down.
Not agreeing with a post is not a reason to mod it down. If I took the time to read it, it is interesting. If someone makes a point with respectable links, even if I don't agree with it, I find it informative.
I would rather be immature with my language than being a close minded fool that does not accept out of hand opinions that I don't agree with.
If I had not posted to this topic, I would have moderated you down just because of your signature. Even if I did agree with your opinion.
As far as my language and what you think about it? Don't give a fuck. Next time I suggest you post something of substance that is on topic with regard to the thread at hand.
