RubyGems' Module Count Soon To Surpass CPAN's
mfarver writes "According to the data gathered by modulecounts.com, the total number of modules checked into RubyGems (18,894, and growing at about 27/day) will probably exceed CPAN (18,928, and growing about 8/day) this week."
This is Ruby we're talking about... What really matters is how many of these modules "monkey patch" core classes and completely fuck up your application just by depending on them.
Ruby has zero real world penetration, it's a proven non-solution championed by the hipster crowd. Twitter was the posterchild until they replaced their RAILS backend with scala running on the JVM.
