Considering how incredibly lame some of the games that made the cut really are, I find it incredible that there were yet worse offerings out there!

My submission is "BarFight" - and from what I've seen of the competition, we stand a reasonable chance of winning - it's the only 3D game with any sort of quality production standards - and although it's a very simple "casual" game to play (not much 'depth'), we believe it's fairly original.

no offence intended, just an observation: The requirement to give an email address to a random website to eve ntry the game out is not a massive obstacle but enough to make me pass your game and try one of the others...

Yeah - it's tough to debug networked games. My game (BarFight: http://www.tubagames-barfight.net) supports 40 players (and we have 10 servers for a total of 400) - but the most I ever got to test it with was 8 or 9. Also, we made the fatal mistake of trying to increase the scope of the game at the last minute - that was a really dumb move, and I should know better.

The worst part is that the competition rules don't allow you to fix bugs during the judging phase (I guess it's obvious why not) - but that makes it incredibly frustrating! You can see a bug - you know which line of code to change to fix it - but you're not allowed to do that for a MONTH!! It's programmer-hell!

You can play games being hosted on Mozilla Labs or author's own server.
The games usually execute Javascript so run on your local machine, but the servers are still being hammered heavily on bandwidth.

I guess that's what you get for giving to community - a massive bandwitdth bill :)

Mozilla gave authors the option of running on Mozilla-provided servers to avoid getting their own sites slashdotted. I chose to take them up on their offer - and they provided me with a fully-hosted "RackSpace" cloud server for my "BarFight" game. They gave me the root password and a choice of what distro I wanted to run...everything!

So they did offer to "do the right thing". I don't think they can be faulted for that.

Why bother being vague with the numbers in a case like this? Just say 124 out of 161, already! So they had around 40 games with penises they wanted to cull. It's not like this was a major culling of the herd.

Or keep it and say "more than 123 games" to be consistent...
