It turns out, users do when they sign up for social networking services, even if they don't realize that — but less clear is the ownership of other information on the Web that these tools also mine."
Ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law.
Not knowing that murder is illegal will not get you off. Not knowing that speeding is illegal won't get you off a fine. Not knowing that slander can get you sued won't get you off.
