Android Approved By Pentagon

sfcrazy writes "The Pentagon has approved a version of Android running on Dell hardware to be used by DoD officials, along with the BlackBerry. The approval of Android by the DoD is a major setback for Apple's iPhone. This doesn't mean that DoD employees can use any Android phone. The Pentagon has approved only Dell's hardware running Android 2.2. Interestingly Dell recently discontinued its Streak phone which runs Android 2.2. Dell is now offering Dell Venue which runs on Android 2.2. So, this is the phone which DoD employees can use."

They need to build a solution from the ground up, otherwise it's going to be a mess to maintain or support.

I realize this is Slashdot circa 2011 and not the green glow of yore but has it really gotten this bad? Have all the real IT people left with only the posers and "enthusiasts" remaining? You seriously just banged your two pathetic brain cells together and concluded that building an entire OS from scratch that is at the level of Android will be easier and less difficult to maintain than just using what is already available and field tested on over a hundred million handsets? Really? Really??

In case you didn't get it, you are a FUCKING MORON. That is all.

When you can show us all that you even HAVE a degree? Get back to us...

When you can show that you've got nearly 18 yrs. of hands-on experience in BOTH coding + networking & security as I have professionally (as well as a slew of "decent accomplishments" noted in respectable trade magazines, books, tech trade shows to your name as I have had for decades now (when I gave a "hoot" about that kind of thing as a younger man that is so I could get things on my resume of that nature in the beginning days for me when it matters most))?

    Then, you can talk!

    * The school(s) I went to are pretty highly rated Northeast U.S. ones... @ least when I went to them!

E.G.-> The 1st one was the "best buy" I could find in fact, Jesuit professors galore - the "educated elite" of the Catholic Church in fact (sort of blacksheep though)...

I am not from a wealthy family, I couldn't "buy my way in" (I was National Honor Society outta highschool too), but I had the grades to go ANYWHERE I wanted really... just not the cash!

Also, @ the time in those days, & as far as schools go?

WELL... "The infamous they" often state that the best ones in the nation are in that area, & I was there on combined athletic/academic partial scholarships too, in a sport they've been a NATIONAL CHAMP in, & I was a lettering NCAA starter as a Freshman too no less (which again, is more than the "trolling likes of you" probably can ever say)...

Still, bottom-line on schooling is, what YOU make of it, & I've professionally worked with guys that only have an A.A.S. who blew AWAY guys I knew with B.S.!

See, & anyone here (minus trolls like yourself) knows this:

To be good-to-great @ computing, or really, ANYTHING? No questions asked - You have to practically "LIVE IT" & talent/smarts/intelligence?? It's NOT ENOUGH!

Again - SCHOOLING's WHAT YOU MAKE IT... no questions asked, & it's ONLY THE START... you learn FAR MORE IN THE WORKING WORLD, by far (and eventually, on your own too).

( ... & not everyone does that, especially youngsters (though I have to admit I've seen more of that "trait" in engineering & CSC related fields than others (which makes sense - if you're going to SURVIVE them, you have to dig in deep, & hard to))).

P.S.=> Now, I'm pretty sure you're the ac trolling ad hominem attacking fool I have been dealing with here for about a year now, & "doing you in", as I did here this week:

Where you showed how WEAK you are in this field? You had better be going to a "top notch school" & doing well there, because to catch up to me?? Good luck - you'll need DECADES to do so...
