CDC Reports 1 In 88 Children Now Affected With Autism In the US

An anonymous reader writes "A new government health report indicated that about one in 88 children in the United State has autism or a related disorder, the highest estimate to date, which represented an overall increase of 25 percent since the last analysis in 2006. The Centers for Disease Control reported on Thursday that the rate increased by 78 percent compared to the reported rate in 2002. From the article: '"The CDC’s new estimate of autism prevalence demands that we recognize autism as a public health emergency warranting immediate attention," Autism Speaks Chief Science Officer Geri Dawson said in a new release. "More than ever, these numbers compel us to redouble our investment in the research that can reveal causes, validate effective treatments and guide the effective delivery of services to all our communities," she added.'"

What is bullshit is the Arrogant Cunt who would rather bury their head in the sand ignoring the problem instead of learning from it. Autistic people are _extremely_ bright -- their brain just doesn't spend much of its processing power on the "Social Customs" of society.

When it actually matters (i.e., not the fucking internet when talking to another 'it's not my kid's fault it's the autism!!!!' idiot), yeah, I know how to behave like a normal fucking human being. You know why? Because my mother actually disciplined me when I acted like a little asshole. Funny thing, when kids are acting like a little cunt, when you punish them for it (real punishment, not a fucking 15 minute timeout from their Nintendo DS) they learn that acting like a little cunt carries consequences.

If they can teach wild fucking animals to behave, you can teach your damn kid. I've seen more considerate behavior out of goddamn horses than I have out of some of these "autistic" kids. And it's totally self-perpetuating, because the second anyone around the kid ever tries to discipline them themselves, the parents swoop in; "Oh no you can't do that he's autistic he doesn't understand that he shouldn't take food off the plate of a complete stranger yet oh yes I know he's old enough to know better but you see he's autistic so we just say 'oh honey you shouldn't do that now'"...10 minutes later you hear him screaming at the top of his longs from across the restaurant and throwing shit while his parents give him a pleasant little "Now, now honey, no no no" every few minutes and tell everyone around them that it's not his fault, "he's autistic"

Mod me down all you want, but everyone knows it's fucking true.
