First Culture Freedom Day Underway In Lisbon, Others Next Saturday
New submitter Blug_fred writes "The first ever Culture Freedom Day is happening right now over a two-day period in Lisbon, Portugal. Organized by Flausina with the participation of Creative Commons Portugal, and being celebrated one week earlier that the official date, this event brings an impressive program of concerts, documentary projections, debates and more. For others there is still time to find an event in your area (so far, eleven listed worldwide) or organize one yourself. If you're in Lisbon you definitely don't want to miss out, and if not, you can always hope someone will bring Free Culture celebrations to your doorstep."
What in the ever lovin' HELL is this crap?
A big ol' artist convention with works released under Creative Commons?
REALLY.
Slow news day I guess
So, flag eating? yes, no?
That flag looks mighty tasty.
how is the news for nerds?
First Culture? Yeah celebrate the Neolithic... me man... you women... we mate
Flausina hosts multidisciplinary projects, giving a special focus on the digital art projects and electronic/experimental music. It' works as an open and dynamic space that welcomes exhibitions, workshops, conferences and events.
You need at least a year to plan for an event like this.
You might have something worthwhile ready for launch in three to six months.
But it can't be done overnight,
Here I was hoping that this would be a day free of culture.

How about offering us an explanation of WTF this is? It sounds like a bunch of bullshit hippy crap to me. Yay! You can go spend your entire day watching a bunch of natives play a drum and some hippy chicks braid their armpit hair in a women-studies circle... OR YOU CAN GO DO SOMETHING FUN.
I promise an impressive program of concerts, documentary projections, debates and more too.
So... there's an event in the city where I've lived my whole life, and I find about it in an American website? What the hell is the organization thinking?
