Humble Bundle For Android 3 Released
alancronin writes with news that the Humble Bundle for Android 3 has gone live, with a selection of games that run on Android, Linux, Mac, and Windows. As with previous bundles, buyers can choose how much they want to pay, and what portion of the proceeds go to the developers or to charity. From the article:
"The latest bundle includes the games BIT.TRIP BEAT, Fieldrunners, SpaceChem, and Uplink, along with each of their soundtracks. Plus, if you donate above the average price, which is currently $6.07, you can also get the puzzle game Spirits. ... The average purchase price is currently $6.07, with Linux users typically paying the most. Linux users have paid an average of $8.83, followed by Mac users at $6.59 and Windows users at $5.42. "
For fans of SpaceChem, the Android port is unfortunately basically a direct port. The UI is pretty much identical to the PC version, and although the game runs on a recent phone with a decent-sized screen (The S2, for example), the UI does not scale to match the screen. It's playable on the S2, but just barely. The game was ported with tablets in mind (which makes sense, they ported to IOS for the iPad first)
However, if you have not played SpaceChem, grab this bundle just for the PC version. It's a fantastic puzzler.
I played the tower defense game and it is somewhat classical. The downloads were quite slow, but that might have been the "first 6 hours" effects. They are also releasing a software to upadte all your "humble indie bundle games" for android so that you are always up to date. Which is pretty useful. (Not sure if they were doing that before or not.)
I want to support this on principle, but several bundles have featured repeat titles. I already purchased Uplink and SpaceChem through Humble Bundles. That is half of the base bundle here. Unless there are more new titles added as bonuses later, I'll pass. Fieldrunners HD is fun, but $2.99 by itself. Normally I throw $15-$20 at these bundles to support them, but it just doesn't seem worthwhile here.

Loved a lot of the game soundtracks from the previous bundle I got (Bastion, Amnesia, Swords & Sworcery, etc). Haven't heard about much of these games, but since this bundle also includes their soundtracks, can anyone comment to the genre/quality of these games' tunes? I might get it primarily for that.
So Linux users pay the most but does that figure include Android linux? I suspect not. Else it would be low like the windows average. (I pay $1.)
My AC stalker: " I personally agree with your posts most of the time, but that won't keep me from modding you troll"
Free apps meet all your gaming needs? Congratulations. You're not the humble bundle's target audience. Why did you even feel the need to comment?
I refuse to believe there is a single person in the first world who seriously thinks a penny is a significant amount of money. Even people in minimum wage jobs earn approximately 800 pennies every hour. An asking price of $0.01 effectively is free.
Does anyone else feel like these are just coming out a bit too fast?
I mean, I like having cool, affordable, and charity-benefitting games and all, but it seems that the "Humble Bundle's" are cranking out every month or two.
Beyond that, we have FieldRunners which is... yet *another* tower defence game. It seems like the IOS/Android market are full of these. A bit more originality would be nice, especially since the earlier bundles seemed to be about games that were - while not the best graphically - often quite original in gameplay/theme (the rest in the bundle seem to fit this fairly well)
Remember, all these include PC games too. If you haven't played SpaceChem and BIT.TRIP BEAT this is well worth grabbing. If you want to see 2 minute reviews of any of the games I have a playlist over here with 4 out of the 5: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2CA23F2EE37011DC
Wouldn't mind trying Spirits, but I all but one of these already and didn't want to spend an extra $5 for that alone. Maybe if they add another bonus later to sweeten the pot a bit. Normally don't mind dropping a dollar or two each game, though I can't justify much more than that because I generally only play each for a couple hours. (Steam says I own 428 games)
Sadly, two of the games will not run on the Nexus 7 tablet, because the screen size is too big.
Neither Spacechem nor Uplink are actually playable on an Android phone, FYI, which is a real shame.
Apple users are broke after maxing out their credit on iThings.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
... and if the app isn't free, then Android users will make it free. You know what I'm talking about. Also, Android users vote for Romney.
Remember that you're not buying games, you're donating to charity! Give generously!
...the much touted iOS anti-piracy measures are the main thing preventing the Humble Bundle model from working on iPhones and iPads. Well, unless they wanted to give a huge, unwarranted cut to Apple, of course.
