Message In Bottle Found After 98 Years Near Shetland
An anonymous reader writes "A drift bottle released in June 1914 by Captain CH Brown of the Glasgow School of Navigation has been found. Part of a project to help map currents, 1,890 scientific research bottles were released around Scotland. Only 315 of them were ever recovered. From the article: 'Mr Leaper, 43, who found the bottle east of Shetland, explained: "As we hauled in the nets I spotted the bottle neck sticking out and I quickly grabbed it before it fell back in the sea. It was very exciting to find the bottle and I couldn't wait to open it."'"
I'm 32 and was raised on my parent's record collection ranging from the 50's to the late 70's. I listened to the radio in the 80's-present and I'm sure there's plenty of good bands I've never heard of.
So what you should have done with this 19 year old is ask what kind of music she likes, make a few suggestions, and then move her in the right direction by suggesting similar bands or music. Saying,"Oh mah gawd!! You've never heard of XYZ?! What the shit?!" does nothing. Saying, "Oh, you like X music? Well, have you ever listened to ABC song by XYZ? They're pretty old school. And if you like that, you should also try..." and just go from there.
