Nokia Keeps Quietly Mapping The World

LucidBeast writes "Mapping the world isn't easy as our friends in Cupertino have found out. Google's maps seem ubiquitous, but there is a less known real heavyweight still mapping the world. Nokia acquired Navteq in 2007, and five years later they are still reading fleet data and scanning cities with LIDAR and 360 degree cameras."

    umm, did you even read the article you linked to?

    Google and Apple's agreement did not cover voice-by-voice, and the sources say Google did not want to hand over a feature on which they had invested 'massive sums' to a competing platform.

    tl;dr: goog was being dicks and were like if you want to stay at our house you need to let me do it with your wife. apple said stfu, gtfo. can you blame them?
