EFF And Others Push For Open Wifi APs Everywhere
netbuzz writes "Forging ahead with an initiative that proved controversial when introduced last year, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and nine other groups today are advancing the Open Wireless Movement to encourage ubiquitous sharing of Internet access. 'We envision a world where sharing one's Internet connection is the norm,' said EFF Activist Adi Kamdar, in a press release. 'A world of open wireless would encourage privacy, promote innovation, and benefit the public good, giving us network access whenever we need it. And everyone — users, businesses, developers, and Internet service providers — can get involved to help make it happen.'"
Look, I've been through this and I'm not "cowering", I'm simply telling you what the consequences are and offering the smarter ones out there an opportunity to think before they take risks that are almost certainly much larger than they perceive them.
Knowingly taking a risk of losing your home, your family, your job, your very ability to get a new job, a place to live — to no purpose — isn't honorable, it's fucking stupid.
If, as I said in the first place, it is your intent to face the system and protest, that's fine. Just be aware that your protest may thoroughly screw your spouse, your kids, your parents, and of course, you.
All your principles won't add up to a cup of lukewarm piss if you end up trying to survive under a goddam bridge somewhere.
