Ban On Loud TV Commercials Takes Effect Today
netbuzz writes "A new law banning broadcasters from delivering TV commercials at a higher volume takes effect today at the end of a yearlong implementation period. Called the CALM Act, or Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act, the law does provide for violators to be fined. TV commercials that crank up the volume have been the No. 1 complaint logged with the FCC over the last 10 years."
Only applies to over-the-air broadcasters, no cable channels
Allows for a one year exemption for anyone requesting.
Does not apply to any commercials put in by your cable or satellite provider
There are no real provisions for fines or enforcement.
What political party do you join when you don't like Bible-thumpers *or* hippies?
Communication between humans need not be protocol bound for meaningful information exchange to occur. You only make yourself look like an idiot for insisting on this instead of just parsing the information from the context.
Good-bye
TV commercials that crank up the volume have been the No. 1 complaint logged with the FCC over the last 10 years.
Wow!! Baby Boomers actually ARE good for something.
I mean let's face it no one else but retirees would bother whining to the FCC. It's not like they have to work for a living so trivial nuisances seem to them like BIG FUCKING DEALS. Maybe they ran out of waitstaff to hassle with stupid questions, homeowners associations to run so they can sue neighbors over trivial matters, one-lane roads to drive very slow on, AARP magazines to read, entitlements to vote for, grandchildren to bankrupt, and myriad other ways to express their shallow self-centeredness. So they finally did something slightly useful, yay! And after all who else but old people would still watch broadcast TV? Younger folks who actually produce things and *gasp* actually mind their own business instead of being annoying busybodies usually prefer the Net.
Just to be clear, I have no problem with old people generally. Just that particular generation of them. The most shallow, thoughtless, self-centered, self-important entitled pieces of shit to ever walk the planet at least in a very long time. Maybe they'll read this and decide to vote themselves into my wallet some more.
