J.J. Abrams To Direct Star Wars VII
azzkicker writes "It looks like J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars VII. From the article: 'Sources have confirmed the Star Trek Into Darkness filmmaker will helm the next Star Wars movie, the highly anticipated installment in the landmark franchise scheduled to reach theaters in 2015."
Why do we keep picking these young, relatively unknown people to direct high-profile films? They usually have a string of average to poor movies and have most of their experience doing advertisements or music videos.
Why can't we get a seasoned veteran of the film industry? Is it the mindset that having younger people work on something will somehow make it hip and fresh? If that's the case, there's a string of terrible films by green-thumb directors to prove that notion wrong.
Don't get me wrong, I like J. J. Abrams, but for something as monumental as Star Wars I figured they'd want a true expert in film, somebody with a very solid and reliable history of legitimate hits.
Primer was a shit movie.
Why is it that most of the people that I encounter seem to have been shat from the Sphincter of Mediocrity?
