US CEO Says French Workers Have Three-Hour Work Day
First time accepted submitter M3.14 writes "In a letter addressed to French Industrial Renewal Minister, Maurice Taylor, chief executive of Titan, writes (French article with English letter) that it would be stupid to buy any factory in France since workers don't really work full time. He'd rather buy cheap factories in India and China instead and import tires back to France. He writes, 'They get one hour for breaks and lunch, talk for three and work for three. I told this to the French union workers to their faces. They told me that's the French way!'"
Just like in the US they bitch about only getting 8 weeks vacation and 2 years for parental leave.
The tenure problem is not nonsense.
If you think its nonsense, then you either havent been paying any attention or you have been writing off the endless stream of evidence as "propaganda."
"His name was James Damore."
most americans don't even have real jobs
i wonder what the unemployment figure in the united states would be if only tthe number of private sector (real) jobs were divided by the total population between the age of 17 and 65
if it was more than 50% i wouldn't be at all surprised
america is full of moochers, living in their socialist dreamland where money rains (from the fed) and government jobs, handouts and imports are taken for granted and held in higher regard than the right of free speech
i really feel sorry for the real american middle class (meaning those emplyees that don't work for the government) because you are financing an organisation with the biggest non-productive (overhead) costs compared to any other legal entity on earth in history
In the Miracle in the Hudson, where Sullenberger saved an entire plane load of people, everyone who made that happen was a union member. Sullenberger was not just the pilot, he was union head for his airline. The flight attendants were all in a union. The air traffic controllers are in unions. The fire/police/rescue responders were unionized. The water taxi and ferry boat personal were also all in unions. The only people involved who were not known to be in a union were the airplane passengers who lived because of all the union people you despise.
Just remember, almost all police, fire and emergency response personal are in unions, as are nurses. If you really hate unions that much I suggest that you never get sick, need an emergency or look to police for anything. Given the self righteous hysterical tone of your rant, I know that you are exactly the kind of person who squeals like a stuck pig when the cops aren't there within seconds of your call. You expect everyone should be at your beck and call.
I know the head of the teacher's union at a local community college. She puts in as much overtime as any software geek I know, and she keeps the self serving incompetent management from driving away all the dedicated teachers who are the only people in the system who give a damn about the students.
All the elementary and secondary teachers I know, who are in unions, buy a large component of the supplies need to teach classes. Have you ever had to buy any supplies for a full time job? i doubt it.
I know people who have done union apprentice programs. It's hard. You are such a whiner I don't think you have what it takes to persevere in that kind of program.
You are ignorant and arrogant. You clearly have no real experience when it comes to labor, and it shows.
Fuck you, asshole.
Why is Snark Required?
The flip side of that is, much of what you take for granted today as necessities of life only exist because some capitalist bastard figured out how to make something faster and cheaper so he could make more money. Should the poor have to give a portion of their income to the rich because now even poor people have a car, a TV, climate control in their home, clean water, refrigerated food, and cold beer? The innovations of industry have raised the standard of living of every citizen far more than anything the government has ever done. Don't believe me? Visit Somalia or somewhere else they simply don't exist. They know what poor is, you don't have a fucking clue.
Violence is like duct tape. If it doesn't solve the problem, you didn't use enough.
Yeah, one of the driving forces behind leftism right now is "people shouldn't need to work". This is because right now, people who work get the most money, and this is wrong (according to leftists). If we let people enjoy prosperity without working, then, nobody will work. This is a moral hazard. It's like letting banksters get away with fraud, it encourages destructive behavior. I know I wouldn't work if I didn't have to. Why not? Leech off the idiots who are dumb enough to bust their asses all day! I'm gonna sit here and play MOH2. LOL
Shutting down free speech with violence isn't fighting fascism. It IS fascism!
Horse. Shit.
Asking someone to pay more because "others" paid for earlier work to make their accumulation of wealth possible is most certainly denying the right for them to keep the wealth they've earned. Those "others" were primarily either other innovators who already made their profits for said work or taxes that they themselves paid a disproportionate percentage of.
Violence is like duct tape. If it doesn't solve the problem, you didn't use enough.
soory, but my best friend is a teacher...sources?
have you seen my sig? there are many others like it but none that are the same
Slaves are not paid. If you are paid and free to leave for a better job, you are not a slave. Possibly an idiot but not in any way a slave.
An education and a couple bucks will get you a cup of coffee. It does absolutely nothing to improve anyone's standard of living on its own. To the vast majority of jobs in the US, a degree of any kind is almost entirely useless. It's most certainly not worth paying ten or a hundred times what a worker overseas without one will do the work for.
Who paid for their education? Disproportionately the people you're looking to demonize. The government has no money but what it takes from its citizens first, so no, the government was not really who footed the bill, were they?
Violence is like duct tape. If it doesn't solve the problem, you didn't use enough.
That's just the thing though. When my ship comes in, it is because I am here at 2 in the morning, reading a little /. after testing a hard drive for errors so I can install it in a customer's computer in the morning. And I still have a half hour of paperwork to do before I go to bed for three hours. You are not next to me helping me do this. The government is not doing this work for me. I am doing it, on my own, for my own business. That I sure as hell did build. Without your or the government's help.
So when my ship comes in, keep your fucking hands off of it.
If you think I voted for Trump because of this post, you're wrong. I voted for Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party. Again.
that's the lesson, if you think you're boss is gonna do you a favour for destroying your family life when his boss is screwing down on them to cut work force... well, you're gonna have a bad time
This is a joke. I am joking. Joke joke joke.
please, fox just lies, saying other news networks are somehow as bad is ridiculous.
This is a joke. I am joking. Joke joke joke.
These capitalists you scoff at? They're the ones who get all the little things that make life more bearable into existence and on the shelves at the stores. Yes, they absolutely contribute more for their money than most Nobel laruiets. Put simply, they give you what you want.
I won't say Gates deserves every billion he has; he was involved in several shady deals. I will say that every dollar he earned honestly, he deserves though. Yes, he is exactly that brilliant. You can tell by how people kept on and kept on giving him money for what he was selling.
You seem to be under the mistaken impression that work should be rewarded by value to society. Let me let you in on a little secret, society doesn't exist, only people. People found billions of dollars of value in what Bill had to sell and now Bill has billions of dollars.
This system you seem so down on? It's money, plain and simple. Money is portable, solidified work; nothing more, nothing less. Not all work is created equal. Nobody cares if you dig a hole in your back yard and they will give you none of their work in exchange. People DID care that they didn't have to use DOS anymore and gave Bill their work in exchange. You find a high-value bit of work, distribute the product of that work as widely as you can, and you can have billions too. But are you capable? Most aren't. THAT is why there is such a disparity of income.
Violence is like duct tape. If it doesn't solve the problem, you didn't use enough.
I guess it doesn't hurt the US provided your defense for the last 60 years?
I love Jesus, except for his foreign policy.
Actually we are asking people who benefit disproportionately to pay a [very] little extra for that privilege
They already pay a [very] lot extra, and don't get more roads or schools or fire protection than anyone else as a result.
15% of $100M still means they paid $15M. How much did you pay last year in taxes? Did you even pay income taxes last year, or do you count as one of the "47%-ers" (and don't give me that "waaaah, we still pay sales tax!" BS) leeching off the rest of us?
Yeah, I count as middle class and vote like a rich man - Because I can appreciate the ideal of "fairness". Making some people pay more for nothing ain't it.
Actually we are asking people who benefit disproportionately to pay a [very] little extra for that privilege, such that the services of government can be applied for everyone.
All very lefty-pious and serious sounding, to be sure. And complete BS, as you obviously know - or you wouldn't be going to such trouble to sound like you mean it.
First - what's disproportionate? Wouldn't you agree that someone who pays no income tax (like roughly half of the entire country) but who receives any benefit from income-tax based services is the person who's really getting the disproportionate share? And aren't the small minority of people who pay the vast majority of all of the taxes, actually carrying the vast majority of that fiscal load (pretty much by definition)? Anyone who pays no income taxes but still reaps the benefits of such taxes is the one getting away with something. Not only that, they still get to vote, and play a role in protecting the special arrangements by which they are kept on the taking-only side of that equation.
Regardless, the main point is that your "[very] little extra" is complete nonsense. If you taxed the "rich" people at 100% of their income, that still wouldn't close the budget deficit past April of any given year. If you really do take only a "very little" more than the majority of the country's income taxes they already pay, that would do nothing to reduce the wildly escalating debt that is the real thing killing prosperity in this country (by way of its impact on the credit market, and thus, ultimately jobs and the giant tax revenue increase that comes with having more people employed and out spending money).
You're not asking rich people to pay a little more in taxes to solve a problem, you're wanting to put a "we got rich people who are already paying most of the income taxes to pay even more" mark up on the scoreboard because the desire to do so is a central pandering point on the left side of the political spectrum. Anybody with a clue knows it cannot do anything to fix the massive over-spending problem and the already almost unbearable level of debt service - which is getting much, much worse by the minute.
All of your "hoarding" symbolism is just deliberate class war flamebait, and completely disconnected from reality.
Don't disappoint your bird dog. Go to the range.
Ummm no, it was government regulation. Most pertinently, it was the FDR administration, pressured by the actions of socialists, unions, and anarchist into doing something to prevent the country blowing up like a powder keg because of discontent, poverty and other inequities bought upon by the free market fuckchops, that put in programs like the WPA to alleviate these ills. They then set up the SEC and the FDIC, which is the reason why the world starting investing in the US markets.
Fucking libertarianist free-market Slashtards.
