To the contrary, she was one of the greatest politicians of the XX century. Together with Ronald Reagan and John Paul II she finished Soviet Union without going to war. Again, no. There was no economic effect from dissolution of USSR, it was a purely political move. Transition to Capitalism happened later, and it was a total, unmitigated disaster for the economy if all ex-USSR countries, just like all supporters of Socialism expected it to be.
