Huge Explosion at Texas Fertilizer Plant
A massive explosion took place around 8:50pm ET at a fertilizer plant in a small town in Texas. The cause of the explosion is not precisely known, but the plant was on fire beforehand. The casualty reports are tentative and expected to rise, but two people are dead and over 150 are injured. Firefighters responding to the initial fire are unaccounted for. Over a thousand residents have been evacuated from their homes. Officials are worried about the volatility of another tank at the plant, but also about the potential damage from exposure to anhydrous ammonia. The blast was heard in Dallas, 75 miles away. "There are lots of houses that are leveled within a two-block radius. A lot of other homes are damaged as well outside that radius." A brief YouTube video shows the explosion of the plant.
Has anyone noticed that tomorrow (on April 19th) there will be 20 year since deadly siege at Waco, TX?
It makes no sense.
Allow me to help. First, we aren't entirely irrational. Yesterday, for instance, the gun grabbers had their asses handed to them in the Senate while trying to pass more pointless incremental gun laws. Most people understand that most gun violence is a consequence of either the burgeoning gang culture among the government subsidized underclass or 'domestics' among morally bankrupt slobs and are in no hurry to obviate their own rights.
Second, there is a big difference between an accident and a deliberate act of violence. Body counts aren't even relevant. If I were to accidentally break your leg you would take a trip in an ambulance, get patched up and that would probably be the end of it, assuming no criminal negligence. If I deliberately sock you in the mouth and give you a bloody lip, on the other hand, you'll have the John Law on my ass for battery in a heartbeat.
See the difference? Accidents will happen. Rational people get that. Deliberate violence, on the other hand, requires a response. Why? Because failing to respond invites more violence. That is how the species works; if I can get away with socking you in the mouth today why shouldn't I beat you senseless and take all your stuff tomorrow, as has been the pattern for all of recorded history?
So no, there will never be a day when terrorism will be dismissed as insignificant because the body count is lower than aspirin. You can stop ranting about it now.
