Microsoft Reputation Manager's Guide To Xbox One
symbolset writes "In the wake of a disastrous E3 product reveal Microsoft has purportedly distributed a confidential internal 100-point 'FAQ' for the Xbox One that reads like it's from the Ministry of Truth. It was of course immediately leaked on pastebin. Kotaku has the story and an amusing online poll. In the discussion below make sure to line up the FAQ entries with the AC comments for extra 'Informative' moderation."
I don't think many people will care about the need to always be online. It won't prevent me from playing as often as I like as long as the servers are always working since the only time my internet is out is when my power is as well. It also does not impact my feeling of privaciy as any console that you ever plan on hooking up to the internet again is in no way more private than one that is always online, unless you plan on wiping the hard drive every time you want to go online. Let's also not forget that Sony has had way more security issues with the PS3 than Microsoft has had with the 360. I think the decision is more likely to come down to price; personally, I'm happy to pay $100 more for the new Kinect.
i don't understand and maybe I missed it in the news but there's no link in the summary... why was the XBone having a bad launch at E3? it seems like a cool product to me.
do you really think anybody cares about the limitations? i just want to play fun, good quality games. shit games are shit even if i buy them used. i have xbox online anyway so there's no difference it if phones home. in short, mountians out of molehills, you know what that means?
Also, the 24h license check can work out great for me (its not always internet connected). If this allows me to share my library, loan games with my kids and friends who live across the country - this is great feature. This DRM is way more friendly than what you find with Apple store, Google play or indeed Steam (whom many in this forum will also praise).
it's ok, s/he is a long-standing slashdot troll. nothing to see here, move along.
After you buy a game on steam you don't ever have to connect to the internet again.
If you load a game on a laptop and take it with you on vacation you can play the games.
If your internet goes out for a week you can play the games.
If you troll the forums and get your account banned you can play the games (just not online MP). (With the xbone, if your live account is banned you lose access to all of your games, even singleplayer)
So I'm not certain what your point was, perhaps you can elaborate?
(With the xbone, if your live account is banned you lose access to all of your games, even singleplayer)
Please stop making up shit, that's why I hate this circlejerk of hate and its disregard for facts. Or maybe Sony's reputation management has been very successful planting lies on Reddit.

So you would rather believe a lower level twitter rep willing to work on minimum wage with no experience who was probably confused and thought someone was trying to cheat on multiplayer games on the 360? Or the Director of Programming of the Xbox a couple of days later? The witchhunt is getting lame. You just want to hate on the Xbox and are willing to deny facts for that.

Weird, most of the posts I've read from GirlinTraining have been interesting and well received by slashdot. Enough so that I remember her/his name. I can't say the same for either of you. Maybe you should try to contribute to the discussion rather than throwing stones?
are you saying i'm forgettable or memorably bad?
