60% of Americans Unaware of Looming Incandescent Bulb Phase Out
Lucas123 writes "Even though production of 75W and 100W incandescent lamps were phased out earlier this year, many U.S. consumers remain blissfully unaware of The Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007, an energy efficiency standard that requires an initial 30% reduction in energy use for screw-in bulbs. By 2020, the federal standard requires bulbs to use 65% less energy. According to a new survey, only 40% of Americans are aware that incandescent bulbs are being phased out. However, the federal regulations are about to impact the most popular bulbs of all — 40W and 60W lamps. As of Jan. 1, 2014, the bulbs will no longer be produced. A significant portion of those who are aware of the phase out have been hoarding the bulbs in anticipation of the ban."
You are apparently arguing with a jack-booted-leftist; these mentally-disordered people are born, grow-up, live, and die in huge cities. They get everything using credit cards via high-speed internet and/or smartphone and travel around the city by mass-transit. They just assume the whole world is like the steel-and-cement asylum where they live and they'd die of a combination of fright and/or incompetence if placed somewhere in middle-America (particularly if they were out of reach of a cell site). No ability to comprehend an imperfect power grid, no understanding of where food and water and energy actually COME from, probably even unable to amuse themselves without some electronic gadget. The poor in these places are so divorced from nature and the real world that they cannot provide for themselves, so they are given "housing assistance" and food stamps, and free phones, etc.The people of these big cities elect people to congress who are as dumb and inconsiderate as they are and who, in-turn, write laws that are insane for anyplace other than big cities.
These morons cannot comprehend that a $30 "bulb" that burns out in a week is NOT superior to a $1 bulb that lasts for years, just as they cannot comprehend that mandating new health insurance scam that requires high speed internet access and e-mail accounts and promises reduced rates and more competition makes little sense to people who do not have internet access, in places without high-speed access, in sparsely-populated areas with only one insurance provider (who now boosts the fees by hundreds of dollars to meet the new requirements) one hospital and a few doctors.
No matter what you say to such an infantile person, you will not change his mind because he lives in an artificial environment and is only exposed to the philosophies and ideas of the other inmates of his asylum..... you and he are in different worlds with little overlap and like all left-wingers he knows what's best for you...
